In Venezuela, mantequilla (butter) is an expression used to connote something easy to do. Butter is one of the products affected by scarcity in my country. Whenever I travelled abroad, I performed actions with butter and other scarce products in Venezuela as a way to protest. During my stay in Chicago for Rapid Pulse International Performance Art Festival, participating artists were offered free massages. I asked the massage therapist to do a treatment to my feet with butter. The result is this photograph.
